We have officially launched our Jiu Jitsu Leadership Cohort for Assistant Coaches at Team Passos HQ in partnership with DreamRoot Leadership Institute!
This cohort provides a solid foundation for participants to learn how to facilitate world-class jiu jitsu programs and effectively lead others on and off the mat. In addition to equipping and multiplying coaches at Team Passos, this cohort is also a beta program for DreamRoot. They will soon offer the training program to underserved communities around the world (learn more here).
Over the next 4-months, participants will receive tailored instruction and hands-on experience in how to facilitate classes as an Assistant Coach while developing their leadership skills. Cohort participants also benefit from personal coaching sessions and additional resources throughout the program.
With the mission of the academy being to transform people’s lives through the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, one student at a time, so they can achieve more, our coaches carry a large leadership responsibility and influence for impacting positive change.
The goal of the cohort is to equip and empower others to fulfill their leadership calling. This program emphasizes the continued development of the participants’ leadership journey. This cohort is not about accumulating more information. Rather, we at Team Passos are seeking transformation in the way we act in our families, workplaces, schools and at the academy; where we further become the leader each of us are called to be. We measure transformation less on “doing” and rather on our perspective and thought processes, which then effects our decisions, actions, and behaviors.
We believe this Assistant Coaches’ training will have a tremendous impact on each program, student, and the academy as whole. We are always working to take your experience at Team Passos to the next level. Continually equipping and developing our coaches is just one way we ensure you gain world-class jiu jitsu instruction and training experience.
Be sure to give a shout out to the cohort participants assisting in class when you see them!
“Jiu Jitsu is just a tool. The academy is just a platform. Remember: it’s always about people” – Tony Passos
We had an amazing seminar by Professor Andre Galvao today. It is always a privilege and honor to share the mat with him and learn from him. He dropped some incredible knowledge about Jiu Jitsu, competing and life. He truly embodies courage and leading by example through serving and treating everyone with integrity.
Congratulations Professor Josh Pike on receiving his black belt today. This is a huge milestone accomplishment. The end of one cycle and the beginning of another. Here’s to a mind blowing new season.
A special shout out to our affiliates. To Professor Louis Armezzani and the Armezzani Jiu Jitsu crew, Professor George Wehby and the Lionheart Jiu Jitsu crew, and Coach Heriberto and the 804 JIu Jitsu RVA crew for making the drive/flights here from such long distances. To Professor Jeff Gordon and Infinite Fighting Concepts for hosting. And The Winchester Jiu Jitsu Academy for coming out to represent so well as always.
Thanks to every single one of our students whom made it out today; for your support, commitment and trust in what we do and making this such a special BJJ community and family. There are no words to describe how grateful we are to each of you. You all make this truly a special place.
Our kids did another amazing job yesterday at the U.S. Grappling competition in Richmond! Each of them fought well, had great results, and showed incredible sportsmanship. We couldn’t be more proud of them!
And a huge thanks to the parents and all of the Coaches who came out to support these little warriors. As Coaches it is our role to support not just the students but also the parents to enjoy the competition experience. Days like yesterday, in watching how the kids interacted so humbly, seeing how well they fought, and how appreciative all the parents were truly touched our hearts and taught us a lot. We are super grateful for you all. We love our team!
What a fantastic seminar by Professor Leo this past weekend! His understanding and teaching is a true representation of the art at the highest level. Just to new a few, Lara won the Pan-American Championship, World Championship, and ACB Championship this year. He is a rising star and we are grateful to have him sharing his Jiu Jitsu at our academy.
Thank you to all the students for coming out to this event!
This summer marks the third year anniversary of Team Passos opening it’s doors at our current facility. To celebrate we’ll hold our annual potluck BBQ at 3:00 pm on Saturday, July 14th at Claude Moore Park, Pavilion 1.
Invite friends and family and come out for a fun afternoon of hanging out off the mat. We will enjoy games for the little ones plus volleyball and soccer matches. Be sure to bring a side dish to share; we’ll bring the meat.
Location instructions: Pavilion 1 is located directly across from the Visitor’s Center. There are two entrances to Claude Moore Park. If you are coming from route 7, take the first entrance (less prominent)
